Is Immigration good or bad?

In any Western country this is a tough topic with many opinions.

Our Politicians need immigration to increase the tax base and give companies a relatively cheap labour force. Their intentions are fairly clear. We all know that most of us simply do not want to do the tough hard labour type jobs. It has nothing to do with being a great 'world leader' or compassion. It is in their mind an economic necessity for their country. That can be argued to death with no real answer.

But I am more worried about the changes to our society with so much immigration year after year. Politicians live in seclusion and are generally clueless on what it means to our cities/neighbourhoods and our way of life.

We hear about entire cities in a period of less than 15 years becoming Chinese, Muslim or South Asian. Western countries offer great advantages to immigrants that can range from healthcare to social services and so on. To be honest I would do the same!

But based on the European experience integration is a miserable failure. These immigrant cities become an extension of their country of origin. Many have no interest in their new country of adoption and simply want to continue to operate like nothing has changed. Quite the contrary we are being told every other day that we need to be more accommodating and 'open' to their differences.

I am sorry but if a person wants to immigrate to a different country they need to adapt to that reality. Nobody is forcing anybody to live here!

It is not to late in North America to protect our culture and way of life. But time is running out for us to be more firm about what immigration means or should be. Do not listen to Politicians on this topic, they are simply chasing votes and trying to fund their deficits.

Immigration is required to some extent but let's be more realistic on what it really means!
